I began building these stylized pieces out of his love for functionality and this is one of the first pieces of furniture i created. As with all of my work, I bring an eye for detail and creative found object recycling to the realm of everyday utilitarianism. The materials are found in his immediate environment and most of the signs were salvaged after Hurricane Katrina. All parts are hand bent or forged and assembled by me. Most of the joinery is done via rivets or nuts and bolts (there is little to no welding). Point being, the process is low tech with a minimal energy footprint and a focus on hand skills.
